Nokia X gets some software update, improves performance

Nokia X, the company’s first Android based smartphone is now receiving some software updates. The software updates is said to bring performance improvement to the tiny Android based smartphone. Nokia X was recently launched in India with a price tag of Rs 8,599, we reviewed the device shortly after its launch and found that the Nokia’s tile view UI was a little laggy, the device would slow down when using the default launcher but works smooth when using a third party launcher (we used go launcher).

It now looks like Nokia has acknowledged the issue and has released a software update with fix for the problem, before the update the software version the device shows is Nokia X platform 1.0 after update it changes to Nokia X platform 1.1. According to Nokia this minor update brings performance tweaks and enhances the device. It is worth noting that the update comes just after two weeks of its launch, so we can expect some major updates in future with some real changes the UI and accessibility.

The Nokia X is based on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the update does not bring latest Android OS codes but comes with some minor changes in the existing OS to improve phone’s performance. There is not information whether the upcoming Nokia X+ and Nokia XL are also eligible for this update, if yes then we are not sure if it will come with the update pre-installed or one will have to update it over the air.

Nokia is planning to launch the Nokia X+ and Nokia XL smartphone sometime in May, the announcement on availability may come at the end of April itself. Talking about Nokia X update it weighs just 16MB and can be updated Over-The-Air using WiFi or 3G. If you have a Nokia X smartphone go ahead and give your device a boost in the performance with this update. To update got to Setting->About Phone->System Updates.
